Nos Tera
A common sight in Curaçao were the white cassocks of the Brothers of Tilburg. These Catholic monastics settled in Curaçao at the end of the 19th century. Their goal was to teach and educate the youth of Curaçao. All this was based on Dutch and Catholic norms and values. This happened, among other places, at Sint Thomas College. The brothers taught there dressed in their white cassocks.
Education was strongly focused on the Netherlands. For subjects such as geography, biology and history, the brothers developed their own teaching methods. Curaçao and the Caribbean were often central to these. Nos Tera was the method for geography.
One of the participants in the workshops brought along this Nos Tera workbook, given to him by an uncle who used to be taught by the brothers.
