A history of
Bonaire

Listen to the story
Thirty-five years ago, Cliff’s daughter was baptized. That day was very important to him, and he wanted to document it. At the time, hiring a
photographer was very expensive. So Cliff wanted to make sure every moment was captured, so he could later reflect on that special day. To his surprise, he ended up with only thirty minutes of footage from a
four-hour event. From that moment on, Cliff discovered a new passion for photography and filmmaking.
His goal became to serve everyone with his work, putting love and feeling into what he does and reflecting that through the lens of the camera. That’s why he chose to focus on the personal lives of people—documenting their cherished events like funerals, weddings, baptisms, and birthdays. Cliff doesn’t just take beautiful portraits; he creates a collection of the entire event, allowing people to look back on the day in a broader way—with all its beauty and all the things that may have gone unnoticed by the hosts themselves.
For Cliff, this brings deep satisfaction. He’s headstrong, a researcher, an experimenter—and you can see that reflected in his photography and film work. His vision is to bring Bonaire closer to everyone, so that people can respect it, especially its nature and culture. Visualization is Cliff’s passion. He discovered this through his very first camera.
