Rapòrt

Chila Pietersz told us about her school report and equal opportunities in education.

“This is my school report from third grade in 1956. Back then a ´school´ was free and for a ´college´ you had to pay. Boys and girls attended separate schools. I studied MULO which was a continuation of the primary school. I graduated best of my school, the Triniteit College at the Dam Negropont location.”

“After finishing school I went to work at notary Smeets’ office. This was really disappointing for me. I wanted to study in the Netherlands but my father wouldn’t let me, he didn’t want any of his daughters to study abroad. I always wanted to become a midwife. Since I could only study to become a midwife in the Netherlands, that never happened.”
